EU NATIONALS

Published: Wednesday 9 June 2021

The rules are changing for EU nationals around their eligibility to apply for social housing. If you are an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen who was resident in the UK by December 31st 2020 you will need to provide evidence to show that you have applied to the EU Settlement Scheme in order to remain eligible to be on the housing register after the 30th June 2021. If you can evidence that you have been granted settled status you will automatically qualify. If you have been granted pre-settled status you must also be able to demonstrate you have the Right to Reside. Further information around this can be found at:

https://www.housing-rights.info/02_2_1_Housing_eligibility_law.php

If you haven’t already provided us with the required evidence please forward it as soon as possible to info@homechoicelincs.org.uk so that we can confirm your eligibility. Please be aware that failure to provide this information could result in a ‘not eligible’ decision being made and you being suspended from the housing register. No action is needed if you have already forwarded this information.

Anyone who came to the UK after the 31st December 2020 will have to provide proof of leave to remain in order to qualify to remain on the housing register.

Should you wish to discuss this further please don’t hesitate to contact the Home Choice Lincs Team.

Myos House Extra Care Dementia Housing Scheme, Warwick Road, Scunthorpe

Myos House will enable a person living with dementia and their carer(s) to live independently in their own apartment whilst knowing that there is care and support available at all times. The two-bed apartments will enable individuals, couples and family members to remain living together even when care is required. This type of scheme is not available elsewhere locally.

The scheme is designed to be dementia friendly providing an environment that will enable people to move freely inside and out, whilst being safe and secure. Careful consideration has been given to design features such as colour, maximising daylight, and landscaped gardens.

Activities will be facilitated on-site including exercises, sensory activities and get-togethers to encourage social inclusion and support to carers. Residents will also benefit from current up to date assistive technology, CCTV and video door entry systems so that maximum safety can be maintained.
